It then poses the question, how does one go about easily finding independently published great reads without spending loads? I have no idea.

When I started keeping a reading log, I noticed that I was heavily out of balance with male : female authors, so I've been consciously trying to address that. I'm also aware that it's pretty damn white. I guess now I could also look at who are the publishers and aim to diversify - though I don' t know where to start. I enjoy writing on Medium but at the same time, I know that my greatest reading pleasure remains in books.
